The research technician should have a minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, etc.) and a license to work with aquatic vertebrates. Candidates must be organized, able to work well independently and in teams and have excellent communication skills. Previous experience with zebrafish (rearing animal lines, injection protocols, etc.) and/or molecular biology and -omics techniques are highly recommended.
The responsibilities of this position will include supporting ongoing research by performing molecular biology techniques, immunohistochemistry, transgenesis, confocal imaging, animal rearing and animal culture maintenance.
Job Description
We are offering 1 year initially with possibility of extension and a gross salary of 23000€ - 24000€ gross/year. The expected starting date is December 2023 / January 2023.

How to apply
Interested candidates should submit a single pdf file with a motivation letter, a short description of current and past research projects and their CV to imaeso@ub.edu . Do not hesitate to use the same address to inquire about the position. Recommendation letters are not crucial at this stage.
1. Postdoctoral Researcher
Eligibility
The Postdoctoral Researcher should have completed a PhD in the field of Biology, Computational Biology or related areas and be able to work well independently and in teams as well as proficiency in English (oral and written). Previous experience in gene regulation, epigenomics and functional genomic techniques (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C, Micro-C) using zebrafish, yeast or cell cultures, and/or programming skills in languages commonly used in bioinformatics (Python or R, etc), creativity and high motivation are highly encouraged.
The
Postdoctoral Researcher will study the earliest stages of molecular novelties: how newly originated genes, such as new Transcription Factors (TFs), are integrated for the first time into a biological system. To be able to capture these very initial moments, instead of studying naturally occurring events, in the lab we mimic these early interactions by putting in contact molecular structures that had never interacted before. Thus, we introduce ectopic TFs in new host organisms and profile their molecular interactions. To that end, we use a variety of functional genomic approaches and model systems such as zebrafish, yeast and mammalian cell lines.

Working environment
The selected candidates will join the Maeso lab, established at the Department of Genetics, Microbiology and Statistics and the Institute de la Recerca de la Biodiversitat (IRBio) at the University of Barcelona. This department offers a privileged environment to researchers, including the so- called “Barcelona Evo-Devo School”, with an excellent international community in one of the best universities in Spain. The team is committed to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and friendly working environment, as well as promoting your career development. Barcelona is a cosmopolitan and vibrant city and a major cultural, economic, and financial centre in southwestern Europe, as well as the main biotech hub in Catalonia and Spain.
